The next community liaison meeting, hosted by Wastewise, is scheduled for December and will bring together locally elected representatives and members of the Wastewise team. These meetings are an ongoing commitment to maintaining transparent, two-way communication between Wastewise and the local community. They serve as a forum for discussing facility operations, addressing community concerns, and exploring how Wastewise’s initiatives contribute to the local area.

Community liaison meetings are structured to give elected representatives the chance to voice any questions or feedback from their constituents, as well as to provide Wastewise with a platform to share updates on its composting facility, sustainability practices, and any upcoming changes that may impact the community. This collaborative approach is designed to ensure Wastewise’s operations align with community values while fostering a sense of shared responsibility for environmental stewardship.

Friday, October 4, 2024 12:21 PM We dealt with the last of the smouldering material on site at approx. 10am yesterday. We didn’t report it yesterday as we wanted both the rest of Thursday and the night time period to make sure we wouldn’t have a re-ignition as last time.

Tuesday, October 1, 2024 4:51 PM The site team have spent the day excavating the material, however due to very high winds the smoulder has spread along the surface of the pile. Due to the excessive winds, we anticipate the smoulder will run into Wednesday 2nd Oct before being totally extinguished.

Tuesday, October 1, 2024 8:48 AM The material that was screened out of the fire material has started to smoulder on site this morning. There are no naked flames present. We are managing it onsite and should have any smouldering out by lunch time, we will keep you informed as the day goes on. On our odour checks this morning there is a low level of burning odour in Kirk Ella.
