Achieved BSI PAS 100 and Compost Quality Protocol certification for the composting operation and launched the Biowise™ range of compost and topsoil products.

2008

Paul and Dan were joined by the third generation of the Landau family, James Landau, to help transform and grow the business into the waste management, recycling and energy recovery sector.

2001

As the landfill sites neared completion, Paul Landau teamed up with Dan Ingram to form Biowise. The new company developed and continues to operate an open windrow composting facility at the Willerby site to assist in the restoration of the closed landfills.

Late 1980s

The Group was split up with Mr Landau retaining Dispit and the associated land. The company reverted back to its original business of quarrying and waste disposal.
Paul Landau took over from his father as Managing Director and guided the company through a sustained period of successful trading over the next 10 to 15 years.

1970s

The business quickly established itself as the leading landfill operator in the area and an associated transport, excavation and plant hire business was formed.
The Group extended its landfill operations with the acquisition of the former Little Weighton quarry and railway cutting immediately adjacent to the existing site.

1969

After several years spent acquiring the land and obtaining the requisite permissions, the site started to accept waste from local businesses and waste management companies.

1964

As Managing Director of a leather tannery in Hull, Edward Otto Landau recognised the increasing need for commercial and industrial waste disposal facilities.
Following the Beeching cuts to the railways, Mr Landau discovered a small section of the former Hull to Barnsley railway line (just 5 miles from Hull City Centre) which ran through a disused quarry. He quickly spotted an opportunity to utilise the site for waste disposal purposes and formed Dispit Limited.
