Biowise wins Leeds' green waste contract
1st Dec 2010
Biowise, our composting division, has been awarded a four year contract by Leeds City Council to process up to 14,000 tonnes per annum of source segregated green waste until December 2014.
Green waste collected from households in Leeds and surrounding areas will be taken to a central transfer station where it will be bulked up and transported to Biowise's composting facility in Willerby, East Yorkshire.
Our composting process produces a nutrient-rich compost certified to BSI PAS 100:2011 and Compost Quality Protocol standards for use in horticulture, agriculture, landscaping and land restoration.
James Landau, Managing Director, commented "This is a significant contract win for Biowise and is a big step towards achieving our ambitious growth plans. We are delighted to be partnering with Leeds City Council and helping them to deliver challenging recycling and composting targets. We will be expanding our composting facility between now and April to enable us to handle the increased volumes."
